BREAKING LOCAL UPDATE — Here are the most useful current notices for residents and visitors across the Grand Strand and Pee Dee, checked October 1, 2026.

Horry County offices relocate Friday

The Treasurer’s, Assessor’s, and Auditor’s offices at the Olin Blanton Building on 21st Avenue in Myrtle Beach will be closed Friday, October 2, while moving to the Central Coast Complex at 332 Hinson Drive. The relocated offices are scheduled to open Monday, October 5 at 10 a.m.; phone and online services remain available during the move.

Conway City of Halloween: expect downtown traffic changes

Conway expects heavier pedestrian traffic and road changes during October events. Drivers should expect delays Thursday through Sunday from 4–10 p.m.; Laurel Street and portions of Second Avenue will be pedestrian-focused, and police advise avoiding Main Street when possible. Free shuttle parking is available from the former Santee Cooper site at 1330 Marina Drive, with ADA parking at 1000 Second Avenue.

North Myrtle Beach public-safety notice

Police say a suspicious item reported near the 12th Avenue North beach access was a homemade explosive device and was safely disposed of by the Horry County Bomb Squad. Investigators are asking anyone who was near the showers and restrooms between 3–7 p.m. Sunday, or who has photos or video, to contact North Myrtle Beach Police at 843-447-9376. Do not approach suspicious items; report them to authorities.

Voting deadline reminder

Horry County says the in-person voter-registration deadline for the 2026 statewide general election is Friday, October 2; online registration remains available through Sunday, October 4. Verify eligibility and deadlines with the county before submitting an application.
