Grand Strand Season, Ep. 2: In North Myrtle Beach, Your License Plate Is the Permit
Dear Sir or Madam,
GRAND STRAND SEASON · Episode 2 · Parking
Two cities, two calendars. Don’t let Episode 1 catch you out in North Myrtle Beach.
The key dates
North Myrtle Beach’s 2026 paid parking season runs March 1 – October 31, a full month longer than Myrtle Beach’s (City of North Myrtle Beach, Feb 5, 2026).
No more decals for cars
NMB enforces with license-plate recognition: “Your vehicle license plate will be your digital permit.” Physical decals are now issued only for golf carts.
- Residents register every year with a driver’s license and registration showing an NMB address.
- Non-resident property owners register with a Horry County tax receipt as proof of ownership.
- Register online or at 904 2nd Ave N (Mon–Fri, 8:30–5). Questions: 843-663-8650 or parking@nmb.us. Details: nmb.us/parking.
For vacation-rental owners
If you own a rental in NMB, update your guest welcome guide this week. Guests who just parked free in Myrtle Beach may assume the same applies up the road. Through Oct. 31 it doesn’t. One line in your check-in message can save a guest a ticket and save you a bad review.
Visitors
Check the signs and the city’s payment app at each lot. Older guides list rates that may be out of date, so treat the posted sign as the final word.
GRAND STRAND SEASON is GrandStrand.app’s running guide to living, visiting and doing business on the Grand Strand, from Little River to Pawleys Island. Previous: Ep. 1. Next: Ep. 3, the fall and holiday calendar.
