Kites Over Cherry Grove: The Grand Strand Kite Festival Fills the Sky This Weekend
If you are on the north end of the Strand this weekend, look up. The Grand Strand Kite Festival returns to The Point at Cherry Grove on Saturday and Sunday, October 24 and 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
What to expect
- Professional show kites, the giant inflatable kind that look like whales and octopuses drifting over the inlet.
- Open flying space for families who bring their own.
- Admission is free. Parking at The Point is limited, so arrive early or walk in from nearby streets.
Make a day of it
Cherry Grove’s fishing pier and the marsh-side restaurants along the inlet are a short walk. Late October water is still swimmable for the brave, and the beach is wide at low tide.
